Decor Tips : Nightstand
My nightstand decor styling tips. If you find that you aren’t utilizing your nightstand to it’s full potential; from the styling, to the function, or a mix of both? Well then keep reading for a few quick tips!
To be honest, if I had good before pictures of the nightstands I had prior to these, I would show you. They were too bulky for the room, they looked heavy because they were cubes, and they were just full of crap. The reality was that was where all of my junk ended up.
Now pay attention. Here are a few quick tips to help you improve the decor and functionality you want in your nightstand.
Find a nightstand that compliments the overall style that you’re going for. I.e. Modern, mid-century modern, boho, contemporary, etc. It definitely does not have to match the rest of the furniture in the room. That is a no no in my book. When everything is from one set, the furniture becomes one big blob and the moments throughout the room are lost.
Once you have narrowed it down to a few pieces in your style, think about what you really need in the piece. I.e. a place to put your journal, to have a lamp, are you using a sconce, do you need a lot of surface area, etc.
Once you’ve selected the nightstand, think about what you will be highlighting around it. Are you going to accent it with a mirror above to lengthen the room? Art perhaps to create a focal point? Or a minimalist approach?
Choose lighting that highlights the use and compliments the materials in the room. Keep in mind that the lighting does not need to be super expensive to look amazing. The lighting that I selected was purchased at Target for 30$ a piece. Very affordable options.
Select objects that you constantly reach for such as books or journals to style the nightstand. I constantly reach for my Five Minute Journal in the morning and at night, so it’s right beside me! These help to create a nice layering effect.
Choose smaller accessories to accent the space. I.e. small figurines, candles, perfume, catch all dish.
Then lastly, think of items that you require on your nightstand that won’t take away from the moment. I have my glasses on my books and journals, my jewelry in a marble catch all, my lip balm and AirPods in an empty Diptyque candle, and my favourite Byredo perfume, along with my MagSafe charger for my phone.
Those are some quick tips to styling your nightstand to make it functional and beautiful!
